Can you imagine a future career in accountancy? Well, now you can find out what it’s really like - and it’s much more interesting than people might think it is! This July, BHP is running our popular Work Experience Academy in Sheffield. Giving you the chance to get insight into the broad range of work that accountants get involved with and find out if it could be the right career path for you.

What will I do?

You'll get an in-depth look into the world of accountancy. Throughout the week, you’ll follow the journey of a case study family business, exploring how it grows, makes decisions, and navigates key financial challenges with our help. From understanding the fundamentals of accountancy to advising on tax, audit, and investment choices, you’ll gain a hands-on insight into how we support real businesses at every stage of their journey. Bringing the world of accountancy to life in a practical and interesting way. Alongside this you'll discover the skills and behaviours you need to enhance your employability and prepare for your career in this sector, including presentation and interviewing skills. You'll spend time with our teams - learning what they do on a day-to-day basis, and take part in fun, interactive games and activities. This is a truly immersive work experience opportunity and we can guarantee you won’t just be making tea and filing all day!

  • Attendees will receive an allowance to cover daily travel costs if needed.

Who is the Work Experience Academy for?

This programme is designed for students who are either nearing the end of their secondary education or currently studying towards A-Levels or equivalent qualifications, and who are interested in exploring the world of accountancy and finance.
