Assistant Fashion Designer

We are seeking a talented and creative Assistant Women’s Jersey wear Designer to join our dynamic design team. With at least 2 years of experience, you will support the creation of trend-led, innovative, and commercially successful designs for women’s jersey wear. You will contribute to all aspects of the design process, from concept through to finished product, involved in customer meetings and liaising with our colleagues in China.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Head of Womenswear to research and develop seasonal concepts and mood boards.
• Assist in designing jersey wear pieces that align with market trends and target customer profiles.
• Produce detailed technical CAD sheets to enable China to produce samples.
• Source fabrics, trims, and embellishments while considering quality and costs.
• Liaise with our Teams in China to ensure design ideas are translated accurately into final products.
• Assist in preparing presentations for customers.
• Stay up to date with the latest womenswear and jersey wear trends, including competitor analysis.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A degree or equivalent qualification in Fashion Design.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in designing womenswear, with a focus on jersey wear preferred.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD programs.
• Knowledge of garment construction, fabric properties, and textile techniques.
• Excellent attention to detail and an eye for colour, pattern, and trends.
• Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Passionate about womenswear design and creating innovative, trend-led products.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience working with knitted fabrics, and embellishment knowledge (print/embroidery etc.).
• Ability to adapt between different customer requirements and price points.
• Strong graphic ability.
• Genuine enthusiasm for womenswear and a commitment to staying updated with industry trends.
