About the role

At Sulzer, we are innovators with a rich engineering heritage and a future‑focused mindset. To strengthen our Services business across Europe & Africa (EUA), we are looking for a senior engineering leader to drive innovation, technical excellence, and commercial impact across Steam Turbines and Compressors (STC). As a key member of the STC Team, you will develop and lead the engineering innovation and technical strategy for Compressors. You will strengthen engineering capabilities across the region, introduce best‑practice technical processes, and support service growth through high‑quality repair, retrofit, and reverse‑engineering solutions. This is a high‑impact, regionally accountable role combining deep technical leadership, commercial awareness, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering strategy & innovation for Compressors within Services Europe and Africa.
  • Build strong relationships and coordinate support from global Sulzer specialist engineering teams and selected external partners.
  • Develop and grow engineering competencies required to support current and future service business needs.
  • Identify technical risks and commercial opportunities related to STC repair, retrofit, and upgrade solutions.
  • Identify capability gaps and create actionable resource and development plans to address them.
  • Establish and implement best‑practice engineering processes to ensure quality, safety, and compliance standards are consistently met.
  • Support and guide reverse‑engineering activities with local and regional engineering teams.
  • Technical excellence, quality, and engineering governance across Compressors in Services EUA.
  • Influencing engineering standards, processes, and innovation priorities aligned with Sulzer’s global strategy.

Qualifications, experience & knowledge:

  • Degree in Engineering (or HNC with extensive relevant engineering experience).
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience with a rotating equipment OEM or service provider.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in fundamental design of steam turbines and/or centrifugal compressors >10 MW.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven experience in component design, reverse engineering, analysis, and manufacturing related to steam turbines and/or centrifugal compressors.
  • Experience supporting service, repair, retrofit, and aftermarket environments is highly advantageous.
