Overview

In this Procurement Manager role, you will lead a UK Services procurement function within Sulzer, shaping category strategies and overseeing a team of buyers and administrators. You’ll drive supplier consolidation, negotiate terms, and build strategic partnerships to improve service, quality, and cost. You’ll partner with operations, engineering, and finance to support business objectives, while championing governance and continuous improvement. This is a high-impact, leadership-focused opportunity to influence the supply chain in a global engineering group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Category Buyers and Purchasing Administrators
  • Implement category strategies to enable growth and operational excellence
  • Drive supplier consolidation and standardisation across the UK service network
  • Negotiate competitive supplier agreements, rebates and commercial terms
  • Build strategic supplier partnerships to improve service, quality and cost performance
  • Act as senior escalation point for supplier-related challenges
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery metrics and procurement KPIs
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities via benchmarking and market analysis
  • Partner with operations, engineering, finance and leadership to support business objectives
  • Champion procurement governance and continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements

  • Procurement experience in engineering, manufacturing, industrial services or related technical environment
  • Experience developing and embedding category-based procurement strategies across multiple spend areas
  • Experience leading and developing procurement teams
  • Strong supplier management and negotiation expertise
  • Commercial acumen balancing cost, quality and operational needs
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders and influencing decisions
  • Proactive and strategic approach to driving change and improvement
  • Knowledge of SAP and/or D365 is advantageous
