At Sulzer Leeds, we design and manufacture some of the largest and most complex engineered pump packages worldwide, serving key industries such as Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Renewable Energy. We’re seeking a Category Buyer to lead procurement excellence across our specialised, high-value supply chain.

We are looking for a high-impact Category Buyer to take the lead on our Fabrication and Baseplates portfolio. As our Category Buyer, you will lead and manage all purchasing activity for your assigned commodities. You are the bridge between engineering requirements and global delivery, ensuring every component meets our rigorous standards for quality, cost, and timing.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead procurement from the initial order placement through to final delivery, ensuring everything stays within budget and project timescales.
  • Negotiate purchasing terms, including staged payments and cash flow optimization, while maintaining market competitiveness through regular benchmarking.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships, conducting regular performance reviews and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Proven background in a related manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Experience with SAP is essential for maintaining delivery data and delegated authority tasks.
  • Influencing and persuasion skills, with the ability to communicate risks effectively across the business.
  • CIPS qualification is preferred, though not essential.
  • A strong teamwork ethic, attention to detail, and the flexibility to travel to supplier sites as required.
