About the role

Sulzer Falkirk is a strategic investment site, built to be one of the most advanced rotating equipment service centres in the UK. That investment is real — bigger machines, heavier lifts, and a 2 MW high‐voltage test bed that lets us fully load‐test motors and generators before they go back to site.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Dismantling, rewinding, rebuilding and testing AC and DC motors, including traction motors
  • LV motor rewinds and full electro‐mechanical overhauls
  • Strip, clean and prepare stators and armatures for rewinding
  • Manufacture and fit coils to original design — random wound and formed coils
  • Dip, bake and varnish windings using dip tanks or VPI where required
  • Carry out static electrical tests and record results
  • Basic mechanical fitting on associated equipment like pumps and gearboxes

What we’re looking for

  • Time‐served Winder, Fitter or Electrical Machine Repair background
  • Solid experience stripping, rewinding, assembling and testing AC/DC motors
  • Comfortable in a mechanical / electrical workshop environment
  • Can read drawings, follow procedures, and work methodically
  • Takes pride in quality and doing the job right first time
  • Formal qualifications help — hands‐on experience matters more.
