As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining control systems for gas turbines and their associated equipment. Reporting to the Controls Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the effective repair, calibration, and overhaul of control solutions and field service activities. Your day-to-day will involve both hands-on technical work and collaboration with various teams across the business.
Your main tasks and responsibilities:

Design and build PLC-based control systems

Create Functional Design Specification (FDS) documents

Perform Safety Integrity Level (SIL) assessments

Develop full working applications based on functional design specs

Provide technical support to Field Service and Project Teams

Lead technical visits to customer sites to support contracted work

Conduct site surveys and offer troubleshooting assistance

Assist the sales and project teams in preparing technical quotations

Prepare detailed control systems documentation

Work on a variety of projects both on-site and offshore

A recognised qualification in Control Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automation Engineering is preferred; however, candidates with relevant experience will also be considered.

Proficiency in Allen Bradley RSLogix PLC programming (Ladder, Function Block, Sequential Flow Diagrams)

Knowledge of vibration monitoring, fuel control, and governing systems

Familiarity with CitectScada, RSView, Wonderware, and FactoryTalk HMI software

Experience designing control systems for gas turbines and integrating them with existing plant equipment

Ability to produce layout diagrams using CAD (desirable)

Flexible approach to working additional hours and away from home when required
