About the role
At Sulzer, innovation and excellence are at the heart of everything we do. Our Ellon Service Centre is one of Sulzer's flagship rotating equipment service facilities, providing world-class repair, maintenance and engineering solutions for critical turbomachinery and gas compression equipment across a wide range of industries.
As the Technical Focal Point for Gas Compression, you will serve as the first point of contact for technical guidance relating to gas compression equipment and workshop procedures. You will work closely with customers, workshop personnel, field service teams and engineering colleagues to deliver technically sound recommendations and exceptional customer support. This is a highly visible role requiring strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Your Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical focal point for gas compression activities within the service centre.
- Provide technical guidance to workshop teams regarding repair methods, procedures and best practices.
- Support the wider engineering team in determining the optimum approach to work execution.
- Provide troubleshooting expertise for complex repair and operational issues.
- Liaise closely with engineering colleagues and other technical specialists when required.
- Attend customer meetings as the technical representative for gas compression projects.
- Accompany customers during witness testing activities, providing technical advice and support.
- Present technical findings, recommendations and repair solutions to customers.
- Build strong customer relationships through professional technical support and expertise.
- Review workshop findings and provide recommendations for repair solutions.
- Participate in failure investigations within Sulzer service centres and at customer sites.
- Deliver technical advice, coaching and training to internal teams where required.
What You Bring
Qualifications
- HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
- Significant experience with gas compression equipment.
- Previous engineering experience within rotating equipment, turbomachinery or related industries.
- Understanding of vibration analysis and machinery diagnostics.
- Experience preparing technical reports and presenting engineering recommendations.
- Knowledge of repair methodologies and failure investigation practices.

Travel Requirements
