A growing and people-focused organisation is looking to appoint an experienced Employee Relations Advisor to join its People team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ER professional who enjoys building trusted relationships, providing commercially focused advice and helping managers navigate people matters with confidence.

Working as a key partner to managers across the business, you'll manage a broad range of employee relations matters from end to end, balancing employment legislation, business needs and employee experience to deliver fair and consistent outcomes. You'll also play an important role in developing manager capability, encouraging a proactive approach to people management and supporting continuous improvement across policies, processes and ways of working.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide practical, timely and commercially focused ER advice across a range of matters including absence management, conduct, capability, performance and grievances.
  • Manage employee relations cases from start to finish, ensuring matters are handled fairly, consistently and in line with UK employment law and company policy.
  • Build strong relationships with managers and stakeholders, offering guidance, coaching and constructive challenge where appropriate.
  • Support managers to address people issues proactively and confidently, promoting early intervention and informal resolution wherever possible.
  • Identify and manage risk appropriately, ensuring accurate documentation and escalating complex or sensitive matters when required.
  • Contribute to the review and development of HR policies, procedures and templates to ensure they remain practical, compliant and aligned with business culture.
  • Analyse ER trends and data to identify themes, risks and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support formal processes including disciplinary, grievance and appeal hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with employee representatives and trade unions where relevant.
  • Contribute to wider HR and people projects including organisational change, culture initiatives and TUPE-related activity.
  • Embrace technology and AI tools to improve efficiency, consistency and case management processes.
About You
  • Proven experience within an Employee Relations or HR Advisory role.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Experience managing complex ER cases independently from initial advice through to outcome.
  • Able to influence and build credibility with managers through clear communication and pragmatic advice.
  • Comfortable balancing business needs, employee experience and legal risk in decision making.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, empathetic and calm in handling sensitive situations.
  • Experience working with trade unions or employee representatives would be advantageous.
  • CIPD qualification (or working towards) is desirable.
