About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior HR Advisor to join our People Team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting directly to the People Director, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within a successful and growing business headquartered in Newcastle. Operating as a trusted HR generalist, you will provide expert people support across a broad range of employee relations and people management activities. You will work closely with managers across the business, helping to build management capability, drive employee engagement, and support the delivery of key people initiatives. This role is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys balancing operational HR support with continuous improvement and organisational development projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations: Lead and support a range of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance management and absence management processes. Provide commercially focused and legally compliant HR advice to managers and employees. Ensure all ER cases are managed consistently, fairly and in line with company policies and employment legislation. Support managers through complex and sensitive people matters, ensuring positive outcomes wherever possible.
- Management Development & Coaching: Build strong relationships with managers across the organisation, acting as a trusted advisor and coach. Develop management capability through guidance, training and best practice support. Identify opportunities to enhance leadership and people management skills across the business. Deliver workshops and training sessions on HR-related topics where required.
- Employee Engagement: Coordinate and support the annual employee engagement survey process. Analyse survey feedback and partner with leaders to develop and implement action plans. Monitor engagement trends and recommend initiatives to improve employee experience and retention.
- People Projects & Continuous Improvement: Support the People Director with key HR projects and strategic initiatives. Review and improve HR processes, policies and procedures to drive efficiency and enhance the employee experience. Contribute to the development of people metrics and reporting to support business decision-making. Promote a culture of continuous improvement across all people practices.
About You
- Previous experience in a Senior HR Advisor or equivalent HR generalist position.
- Strong employee relations experience, with confidence managing disciplinary, grievance, absence and performance-related matters.
- Excellent knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience coaching and influencing managers at varying levels of seniority.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
- Experience supporting employee engagement initiatives and organisational development activities.
