We are delighted to be working with a well-known North East public sector organisation in their search for an Organisational Development Specialist to join the OD team. The team plays a key role in enhancing the capability, engagement, and performance of our workforce, ensuring that colleagues have the skills, knowledge, and support needed to deliver the organisational strategy and provide excellent services.

In this role, you will contribute to a diverse portfolio of organisational development, learning, and talent initiatives that support both individual development and wider organisational priorities. You will work across the full employee lifecycle, helping to design and deliver programmes that strengthen leadership capability, support team effectiveness, and build the skills required for the future of the organisation.

A significant part of the role will involve leading and supporting a range of OD and learning projects, from concept through to implementation and evaluation. This may include developing and delivering team development programmes, leadership and management learning interventions, talent and succession approaches, and organisation-wide learning activities. You will ensure these initiatives are engaging, evidence-based, and aligned with organisational priorities, while also supporting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

You will act as a trusted partner to leaders and managers across the organisation, working collaboratively to identify development needs and design solutions that strengthen organisational capability. Using a range of consultation and facilitation approaches, you will support teams to reflect, learn, and develop in ways that improve performance, collaboration, and service delivery.

As a key contributor to organisation-wide programmes, you will bring strong communication, facilitation, and project planning skills, along with the ability to design effective and inclusive learning experiences for a diverse workforce. You will be comfortable working with colleagues at all levels of the organisation and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

You will ideally bring a strong understanding of contemporary OD practices, organisational learning approaches, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into practical development initiatives. The position reports to the Organisational Development Manager and forms an integral part of the wider People and Organisational Development function.

The role is hybrid and the office time will be split between their office in Newcastle City Centre and South Shields. Hybrid - 3 days office/ 2 days home working.
