The Vacancy
Are you a highly motivated Registered Nurse or ODP and have the drive, ambition and commitment to deliver the highest standards of patient care? Sulis Hospital, a leading healthcare provider in Somerset, has an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or ODP to join our Endoscopy Team. You will provide excellent nursing care and actively participate in and contribute to the management in the Endoscopy Unit.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participate in the maintenance of endoscopes and other specialised equipment used in endoscopic and non-endoscopic procedures and provide technical assistance during such procedures.
- Set, monitor and maintain excellent standards of nursing care working within company policies and procedures.
- Provide technical assistance during diagnostic and therapeutic Endoscopic procedures, ensuring safe working practice.
- Ensure a friendly environment, maintaining personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy.
- Maintain timely and accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
- Store, check and administer drugs in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
- Work with minimal supervision during endoscopic procedures, admission and recovery of patients and other related procedures.
- Contribute to the local resolution, investigation and follow up action of any informal or formal complaints.
- Participate in the care and maintenance of endoscopes and other specialised equipment, ensuring agreed standard of decontamination including accurate records of traceability of all endoscopes and associated equipment.
- Ensure the safe discharge of all patients from the Endoscopy unit.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment within the clinical area.
- Triage and Pre-Assess Patients against specific criteria to ensure suitability for the procedure.
Part Time - Mon - Sun - 20 hours - Shift pattern varies from the following: 08.00 - 16.00; 10.00 - 18.00; 08.00 - 18.00.
This role requires DBS Clearance. If you have NMC or HCPC registration and a demonstrable record of CPD with knowledge and current experience of professional practice within the Endoscopy department, then we would like to hear from you.
