Our digital current account gives customers a safe, accessible and modern way to manage their money, with a contactless Mastercard debit card, a range of banking features, cashback rewards and a simple onboarding process with no credit checks or lengthy paperwork.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a Financial Crime Officer to join our Financial Crime team and play an important role in protecting our customers and business from financial crime risks.

About the Role

As a Financial Crime Officer, you'll investigate customer activity, identify potential risks and make informed, risk-based recommendations.

You'll review customer profiles, onboarding information, transactional activity and account behaviour to identify unusual or suspicious activity.

You'll also communicate directly with customers where further information is needed to support your investigations.

This is a hands-on role where you'll need to combine attention to detail with good judgement and the ability to look beyond individual alerts to understand the wider customer picture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review financial crime and risk alerts generated through routine screening and monitoring activities.
  • Investigate unusual or potentially suspicious customer activity using your own initiative.
  • Review customer profiles, onboarding information, transactional activity and account behaviour to identify potential risks.
  • Carry out customer screening using relevant third-party screening tools.
  • Risk assess customer accounts and clearly document your findings and rationale.
  • Contact customers to gather additional information and support investigations where required.
  • Apply a risk-based approach when making recommendations on customer accounts.
  • Identify and escape potential suspicious activity in line with our SARs policy and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough investigation records.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Financial Crime team and wider business.
  • Share knowledge and contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial crime processes and controls.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties required by management.

About You

We're looking for someone who is naturally curious, analytical and comfortable investigating information to understand what's really going on.

You may already have experience in financial crime, AML, KYC, compliance, fraud or a similar investigative environment.

Alternatively, you may have transferable experience and be looking to develop your career within financial crime.

You'll have

  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to your work.
  • The ability to review information, identify inconsistencies and spot unusual patterns or behaviour.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The confidence to communicate with customers and ask appropriate questions when investigating an account.
  • The ability to make sensible, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage your workload effectively.
  • A willingness to learn and develop your knowledge of financial crime and risk.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also using your own initiative.

Experience of AML, transaction monitoring and raising SARs would be beneficial.

Why Join Us?

  • Hybrid working in our Manchester city centre office
  • An opportunity to develop your career within financial crime and fintech
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment
