SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Hampshire

Pay: Β£20 per hour (PAYE)

Contract: Flexible daytime hours

About the Role

As a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils with a variety of additional needs to access learning and reach their full potential. Working closely with the class teacher and other professionals, you will provide one-to-one or small group support, adapt learning materials, and help create an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment. Your role is key in promoting pupil independence, confidence, and progress both academically and socially.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Support students in completing tasks, providing additional help with reading, writing, and practical activities. You may need to modify tasks or give extra guidance to ensure students can fully participate.
  • Help students re-engage with their education in a supportive and non-judgmental environment.
  • Use creative strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional well-being. Provide encouragement, guidance, and support during challenging situations.
  • Assist students with speech, language, and communication needs, using strategies such as visual aids, sign language, or communication tools to help them express themselves and engage with learning.

Who We're Looking For

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN) or in a similar role is preferred, but not essential.
  • A compassionate, patient, and proactive attitude towards supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and positive learning environment for all students.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update system
  • Hold the right to work in the UK.
