Job Title: Care Assistant

Location: Middlesbrough

Pay: £13.50-£14.50

Shifts: 05:00 – 19:00 or 08:00 – 15:00 (5 days per week to work around family rotas)

About the Role

Sugarman Health and Wellbeing seeks a Care Assistant to support a female Service User with complex clinical needs, including Seropositive Rheumatoid Arthritis and a Tracheostomy, in her own home. Full clinical training provided.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Providing high standards of tracheostomy care, including suctioning and management.
  • Supporting mobilisation using two walking sticks indoors and a manual wheelchair in the community.
  • Assisting with meal preparation and feeding while monitoring for aspiration risk.
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs, including blood pressure and skin integrity.
  • Offering companionship and supporting social needs, such as enjoying audiobooks or walks by the seafront.
  • Prompting or assisting with medication dispensing from blister packs and maintaining MAR charts.
  • Helping with household tasks such as cleaning and making the bed.
  • Following detailed care plans and escalating clinical concerns immediately to the Nurse Care Manager.

Who We\’re Looking For

We’re looking for individuals who are compassionate, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality care. Ideally, you will have:

  • Essential: 6 Months of care experience.
  • Driving License: Required to operate the Service User’s automatic mobility car.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, resilience, flexibility, and computer literacy.
  • Specific Needs: Must be comfortable supporting a Service User who is registered blind and requires verbal communication support.
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and patiently, as the Service User requires time to finish sentences due to her tracheostomy.
