Location: BH9, Bournemouth

Pay: £30-35 per hour

Hours: Part‑time, 10 hours per week (2 hours per day - Afternoons), with the option to support an additional nearby student should full‑time hours be preferred.

About the Role: We are looking for one experienced SEN Teacher to lead in delivering high‑quality, personalised 2:1 support for an 8‑year‑old student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and global developmental delays. The student is non‑verbal, requires continuous adult supervision, and benefits from a highly structured, sensory‑informed approach. Learning will take place within the home environment in BH9, focusing on engagement, communication, routine‑building, and emotional and sensory regulation. This role is ideal for professionals experienced with early developmental levels, sensory needs, and working with children who face significant challenges with communication, independence, and attention.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, predictable, and supportive learning environment
  • Deliver highly individualised, sensory‑aware learning sessions
  • Use or develop consistent communication methods (e.g., visuals, gestures, objects of reference)
  • Support engagement in adult‑led activities at the student’s developmental level
  • Build trusting relationships with the student and family
  • Promote early independence skills within daily routines
  • Help regulate sensory needs through appropriate activities (movement, sensory play, music)
  • Complete high‑quality session reports
  • Work collaboratively as part of a 2:1 team

Requirements:

  • QTS, relevant teaching qualification, and strong EAL teaching experience
  • Experience supporting children with ASD, significant developmental delays, or nonverbal needs
  • Confidence delivering education at early developmental levels
  • Strong understanding of sensory processing and regulation
  • Experience working in home‑based or specialist settings
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Excellent safeguarding knowledge
