An organised, experienced, friendly, tidy and capable cook/chef is required for a privately owned villa in St Tropez. British clients who have had the same chef from Sugarella for years are looking for someone new.

Must be someone able to fully commit to both sets of dates, and the entire stints. No change of cooks. The cook/chef will be responsible for:

  • Menu planning (sitting with the client each week to go through menus for the week ahead)
  • Shopping/ordering
  • Stock control
  • Cooking
  • Serving and clearing up dishes/washing up

The family have a housekeeper who will help to keep the kitchen clean, but the cook must be happy to serve and clear at the table (with the help of the family) and lay tables (with the help of the family).

Over the Easter period, numbers will be approximately 6-8 adults. Over the summer, numbers will vary but the villa can sleep up to 12 with occasional local visitors coming for meals, so it can go up to 14/16 on occasions. Accommodation is provided in the property with own room and bathroom.

Meals required:

  • Breakfast (fruit, home made granola, croissants etc, and the occasional egg) - around 9.30/10am
  • Lunch - around 1/1.30pm
  • Canapes and dinner - around 8/8.15pm

Dinner is sometimes plated, sometimes platter style, depending on the menu. A good range and variety of dishes are required, and the cook/chef must also be happy to cook in line with the clients' requests/tastes when asked, such as following a specific recipe they enjoy. Otherwise, they are quite open to hearing options on what the cook can suggest.

It is essential the cook is able to (and enjoys) using fresh local produce and has to shop daily for all the fresh items like bread. A nice, quiet, friendly and professional personality is preferred. This is a job for a professional career private cook/chef, not for someone wanting to go out partying! Must be sensible.

You will be given one day off a week in the summer, the day will vary depending on what is happening each week. The Easter stint requires working every day. The family arrive at Easter on 3rd April, so 2nd is a set up/prep/shopping day with the client.

You absolutely must be a confident driver and able to hire a car from the airport and drive to the villa on your own. You will need to be over the age of 25 years for insurance purposes on the car.

If you are interested in this role, please email with all of the following:

  • Expected Day Rate
  • CV
  • Sample menus and food photos

You must have worked in private households before and have excellent checkable references.
