Job Description:

A Groundsperson/Maintenance Person is required for a large property based near Banbury, Oxfordshire. This is a privately owned residence. The family live at the property all year round, but travel during every school holidays. The candidate must be happy to stay overnight on site for all school holidays/family absence for security purposes. This role would be best suited to an experienced groundsperson that is happy to stay on site during family absence. No pets or children. Annual leave to be taken during the term time, and to be agreed with the principal in advance.

Duties will include, but not limited to:– Ensuring the outside of the home is kept in immaculate order at all times, and all maintenance kept up with. β€’ Mowing β€’ Hedge trimming β€’ Strimming β€’ Chopping and bringing in logs/filling up log baskets/lighting fires β€’ Security β€’ Rubbish removal β€’ DIY/Maintenance β€’ Painting β€’ Driving β€’ Watering β€’ Vegetable garden maintenance β€’ Leaf clearing β€’ Bonfires β€’ Weed killing β€’ Tree maintenance – collecting branches/sticks etc that have fallen β€’ Leaf blowing/collecting β€’ Caretaking β€’ The family have a gardener who cares for all the plants/flower beds, so this is not a β€˜gardener’ role, more of an all round outside maintenance role, with the flexibility to work inside when the family entertain β€’ Looking after/walking dogs

The family entertain a lot, so it is important the candidate is happy to work weekends and evenings when needed (inside – assisting with waiting/washing up/fires/moving furniture/setting up for events etc). If the family are not entertaining at a weekend, the role will be Monday – Friday. Flexibility is important for the family – so being able to do additional hours at weekends/evenings is required – and time off given in lieu (eg. Come in later the next day etc). But it is important the candidate has a flexible attitude.

During school holidays, the family travel – the candidate is required to stay on site overnight and care for the dogs during the entire family absence. When the family are away, the days of work are Monday to Friday but the candidate must stay on site overnight at weekends – the dogs and security of the home will be the candidates responsibility.

It is important that the candidate can drive, and you will need your own car for personal use.

A 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom cottage, or newly renovated 1 bedroom flat can be provided (TBC) – this is furnished and no bills payable (other than TV licence).

The accommodation is not suitable for pets/children, and would be best suited to a quiet individual that enjoys living and working in the countryside in a lovely country village. The candidate must be pro-active and able to use their initiative – this is very important particularly during the times the family are away.

Previous Private Household Experience and references essential. DBS Checks essential. Must beveligible to live and work in the UK

Salary depends on experience. This is a payroll job with a statutory holiday allowance and pension. Holidays to be taken during the term time only, and to be agreed in advance with the Principal. Please e mail ella@sugarellacooks.co.uk with your CV if you are interested in this role.
