Animal Centre Manager (on-site)

Starting salary is £33,111.60 per annum

This exciting opportunity involves leading a team in maintaining all aspects of our outstanding Animal Centre. You will be responsible for managing the health and welfare of a wide range of species, ensuring that all relevant legislation, current guidance, and welfare standards are consistently met to a high standard.

As part of your responsibilities, you will contribute to wider College health and safety activities. Therefore, a sound understanding of health and safety is essential, and you should be willing to undertake relevant training, such as first aid and fire marshal duties. You will need to demonstrate an organised and methodical approach to ensure the smooth operation of workspaces, supporting the delivery of an exceptional learner experience. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a variety of audiences, including young people, are essential. You should also have experience in proactively leading a team and using your initiative to solve problems and improve practices.

A good standard of education is required, including Level 2 qualifications in Maths, English, and Science (GCSE Grade 4/C or above), along with a relevant Level 3 qualification such as an Extended Diploma in Animal Management or higher. Experience working with a range of mammals, reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, and livestock is essential for this role. This post is based at Suffolk Rural (Otley) however Suffolk New College is a multi campus site therefore you may be required to work at and travel between campuses.
