We are looking to recruit a staff member to join our friendly and welcoming team as a Preschool Assistant. The right candidate will be someone who has a passion for working with children aged 2-5 years, and who has the following attributes:

We are looking for someone to work Monday to Wednesday 8.15 am to 3.45 pm as a minimum, with potential for additional hours to be discussed at interview.
Your responsibilities
The main duties of the role will include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring all the children's needs are recognised and met.
- Ability to work as part of a close-knit team to deliver a curriculum that reflects the values and ethos of our setting.
- Working in partnership with parents/carers.
- Offering appropriate levels of support and stimulation through use of resources and activities.
- Setting up/packing away of preschool sessions (this part of the job is very physical).
- Preparing snack.
- Maintaining hygiene of the children, including changing where necessary.
- Light admin duties including child observations, summative assessments of your key children, contributing to SEND plans and overall planning for the setting.
What you will need
Essential criteria:
- Minimum Level 3 in Early Years/Child Care learning and development.
- Have 2 years previous experience of working in early years.
- Good knowledge of the EYFS.
Desirable criteria:
- Paediatric First Aid trained.
- Safeguarding training.
- Holds an up-to-date food hygiene certificate.
- On the DBS Update service.

Old Newton Under Fives is a thriving village preschool which operates term time only. Based in Old Newton Village Hall, we provide a pack-away, fun and enjoyable preschool for children aged 2 to 5. We pride ourselves on our enthusiastic and imaginative team who provide a child-focused, interest led and interactive learning environment. Operating during term times only, we have indoor and secure outdoor play areas, and access to supervised play on outdoor play equipment. We regularly arrange for walks around the adjoining playing field, woodland and nature areas.
