Join to apply for the SEND Learning Support Assistant role at Suffolk Jobs Direct. Hadleigh Community Primary School is seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to work within a small friendly SEND and pastoral care team in a vibrant community school.
Location, hours and contract
- Address: Hadleigh, Suffolk. IP7 5HQ
- Hours: 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per year, term time only
- Contract: Fixed Term Contract until 31 August 2025. Required as soon as possible
Salary
- Salary: £12.26 per hour, £23,657 (pro rata)
- Contract pattern: Wednesday to Friday 9am – 3pm with 1-hour unpaid lunch break
Role purpose
You will be supporting a child with physical needs under the guidance of Year 6 teachers and working with Occupational and Physical Therapists. You will be involved with working with SEND children on their individual learning plans, conducting assessments and delivering interventions, and working with outside agencies to implement suggested support.
Responsibilities
- Building positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence
- Adapting communication style to respond to pupils according to their individual needs
- Promoting high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school’s behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention
- Assisting with the development and delivery of individual education and support plans
- Delivering small group and individual interventions outside the classroom
- Completing assessments to determine the support needed for individual children
Teaching and learning
- Contribute to planning differentiated learning activities as advised by outside agencies and SEND Co for individuals outside the classroom
- Use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning
- Provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil progress regarding targets set by outside agencies and those on pupil profiles
- Monitor, record and report on progress and attainment to staff in school, parents and outside agencies
- Contribute to the overall ethos, aims and work of the school
You will need
- GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 in English and Mathematics is preferable but not essential
- Experience working in a school environment or other educational setting
- Experience working with children/young people with special educational needs (SEN)
- Experience planning and delivering learning activities
