Be part of a dynamic team that makes a difference. At East Suffolk Services, we proudly deliver a wide range of essential local services that support the lives of over a quarter of a million residents and thousands of businesses across our district. We’re a new, growing organisation—full of energy, ambition, and purpose. As part of our team, you’ll play an important role in helping us shape high-quality, efficient services that people rely on every single day. This is more than just a job. This is a fantastic opportunity to support, and give back to, your local community.

We currently have an opportunity to join our Bereavement Services team as a Team Leader.

Your role: We are looking for a compassionate and organised Bereavement Services Team Leader to support the smooth delivery of cemetery and bereavement services across East Suffolk. This varied role combines operational co-ordination with administrative oversight, ensuring services are delivered with professionalism, dignity and care. You will co-ordinate day-to-day activities on site, support burial and interment arrangements, and act as a key point of contact for families, funeral directors and other stakeholders. Working closely with the Bereavement Services Assistant Manager, you’ll help maintain accurate records, uphold health and safety and compliance standards and ensure a high-quality, sensitive service for our communities.

What you will need: You’ll bring experience working in a customer-focused environment, including supporting individuals in sensitive or distressing circumstances. A confident communicator, you’ll build positive relationships with a wide range of people, demonstrating empathy, tact and professionalism at all times. You’ll be well organised, able to manage competing priorities and maintain accurate records, with good IT skills across standard systems. Experience in bereavement or cemetery services, knowledge of relevant processes or regulations, and co-ordinating experience would be advantageous. You will either hold a bereavement management qualification or be willing to work towards one with our support.

Do you have the skills, experience, or potential to succeed in this role? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Thinking of joining us? Here’s why you should: At East Suffolk Services, we truly value our employees. We understand that the backbone of any company’s success will always be its people and that our continued success depends on recognising talented individuals, supporting their development, and retaining them within our organisation. That’s why we are committed to making East Suffolk Services a great place to work.

We value our staff: In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive package of benefits designed to support your health, development, and lifestyle. These include:

  • A top-tier health and wellbeing package through Canada Life, one of the UK’s leading providers — including online access to UK-based GPs, plus life insurance.
  • A competitive, matched pension scheme through Royal London.
  • Access to a wide range of support networks and wellbeing initiatives, including mental health resources and specialist counselling.
  • Learning and development opportunities tailored to your role and personal goals.
  • Exclusive discounts on the latest tech (smartphones, TVs, laptops), holidays and travel, fashion, health and beauty, and more.
  • A car benefit scheme and cycle to work scheme to support your commute in a way that suits you.
