Claydon High School is looking for a Mathematics Teaching Assistant. We are looking to appoint a colleague with excellent numeracy and a desire to ensure students are prepared for their future lives with mathematical skills. You will support teachers and learners in Mathematics lessons developing numeracy skills and fluency. In addition, you will work with small groups of students delivering catch up intervention or supporting GCSE revision.

Ideally, you will have some experience of working with young people aged 11-16 in an educational setting and have good ICT skills to support learners. This post would be suitable for graduates considering a future career in teaching. You will play a central role in supporting our students to ‘be the best they can be’. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people and helping them make the most of their potential.

Claydon High School is a popular, oversubscribed and friendly comprehensive school on the outskirts of Ipswich; we are situated close to the A14 with easy transport links across Suffolk and into Essex. We are a small school with 775 students on roll which means that there is a close working relationship with all the staff and students in the school. As part of the Penrose Learning Trust, we also work closely with other schools within the MAT to achieve “excellence through collaboration”.

If you would like to have a discussion about the post or visit the school, please email Sue Perrotton, Headteacher's PA on admin@claydonhigh.com.

To apply, please visit the Penrose Learning Trust website or the school website. Closing date: 12 pm, 6 October 2026. Interview date: week commencing 12 October 2026.

Penrose Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to provide references, undergo employment checks and an enhanced disclosure via the DBS.
