Salary: £35,412 - £38,220 per annum (Band 6)

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join East Suffolk Council's Funding Team as a Funding Officer. You will be based in Lowestoft or Melton, with the potential for you to work across the entire Partnership district of East Suffolk and Ipswich.

In this varied role, you will work collaboratively within East Suffolk Council’s Funding Team to support the delivery of a high-quality funding service across the Council. You will work closely with the Economic Development & Regeneration and Communities teams, helping to attract and manage funding that supports priority projects and delivers benefits for local communities and businesses.

You will play a key role in securing and maximising external funding to support economic development, regeneration, community and business initiatives across East Suffolk. Working closely with council teams, you’ll help identify funding opportunities and support the development of high-quality funding bids that deliver tangible benefits for local communities and businesses.

You’ll be responsible for managing and delivering a range of Council-led grant programmes, including Sizewell C, Enabling Communities and Community Partnership budgets. This will involve assessing applications, undertaking due diligence, monitoring funded projects and ensuring funding is allocated fairly and achieves real impact. You’ll also provide practical funding advice and signposting to external organisations, promote funding opportunities to internal and external audiences, and contribute positively to a collaborative, values-led working culture.

You will have experience working with external funding, ideally within local government, economic development, regeneration or community-focused environments. You’ll be confident supporting or leading funding applications and managing grant programmes to ensure funding is effectively delivered.

You’ll bring a strong understanding of funding bodies and relevant national, regional and local policy frameworks. Experience working with businesses, communities and a wide range of stakeholders is highly valued, as is the ability to assess funding proposals and undertake appropriate due diligence.

You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and networking skills, able to build positive working relationships and explain funding opportunities clearly. You’ll be analytical and detail‑focused, with good numeracy, research and data‑handling skills, balanced by a creative and solution-focused approach.

Educated to degree level (or equivalent), you’ll be motivated, organised and capable of working both independently and as part of a collaborative team. You’ll share the Council’s commitment to equality, diversity and continuous improvement, work confidently within data protection requirements, and be willing to travel across the district as needed.
