Pushforward Primary School are seeking a passionate and committed Youth Support Assistant to join our highly supportive team. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference by working closely with pupils and helping them thrive both academically and emotionally.

PushForward Primary School is a new and exciting provision based in Rougham, Bury St Edmunds. As part of our wider community of Alternative Provisions and Secondary Schools across Suffolk, we are dedicated to supporting vulnerable pupils and helping them achieve positive, lifelong outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one to one mentoring and support for a pupil
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons
  • Support the School Delivery Practitioner with targeted interventions
  • Monitor and report on pupil progress, raising concerns where appropriate
  • Supervise pupils during non-classroom activities, including trips and extracurriculars
  • Assist with classroom setup and preparation
  • Support food preparation for meals and snacks
  • Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage engagement and learning

Requirements:

  • Strong basic education, including GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and mathematics
  • Good IT skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role (e.g. Teaching Assistant)
  • Experience working with pupils with SEMH needs in an educational setting
  • Confidence to take on additional responsibilities (e.g. Food Hygiene, Forest School, lunchtime support, school yoga, etc.)
  • Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check prior to employment
