Join our dynamic Economic Development team at West Suffolk Council and play a pivotal role in transforming the local economy. Our mission is to foster economic growth, support local businesses, inspire young people and create a thriving economic community. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Skills Coordinator to help us achieve these goals. As a motivated and community-focused Skills Coordinator, you will play a key role in improving employment, training, and development opportunities for both young people and adults in Brandon.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference by connecting local people with meaningful career pathways, supporting employers to grow their workforce, and strengthening partnerships across education, business, and the community. Candidates with strong experience of working within a local community to develop skills and a good knowledge of the Brandon area will be especially well-suited to this role.
You will be working with a team that:
- develops and implements projects that enhance economic growth and attract investment to the area
- runs local skills events and initiatives
- provides support and guidance to local businesses, helping them to grow, innovate, and overcome challenges
- fosters strong relationships with businesses, community groups, and regional partners to drive collaborative economic development efforts
- conducts research and analysis to identify economic trends, opportunities, and challenges within the local area
- identifies and secures funding opportunities to support economic development projects and initiatives
- monitors and reports on the progress of economic development activities, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement
- engages with the local community to promote economic development initiatives and gathers feedback to inform future projects.
You will:
- be organised, with a high level of interpersonal, written and oral communications skills

- be highly self-motivated and directed
- be able to support individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those facing barriers to employment
