West Suffolk College are seeking a Safeguarding Practitioner who is skilled in recognising and referring any safeguarding issues to the relevant service as needed. This role will involve liaising with the police or social services in relation to making a referral or providing support for the interviewing of students where a referral has been made.
You need to be able to understand contextualised safeguarding issues and take this information into account when making referrals. In addition, you will need to monitor Children in Care, Young Adult Carers or students with mental health conditions liaising with college staff so that risks are well known. The role requires excellent communication, IT, and organisational skills.
In this role you will liaise with lecturers, parents, and managers, coordinating resources to address safeguarding, PREVENT, and student welfare issues, including housing and financial advice. You will have knowledge of SEND, SEMH and an understanding of safeguarding procedures.
