We are looking for a motivated and efficient administrator to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Suffolk Roadsafe ANPR project. The project aims to manage speeding issues around the county by utilising Automatic Numberplate Recognition (ANPR) technology. We are looking to expand the reach of these operations across the county.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Helping promote Road Safety across the county, focusing on reducing speeding in communities via targeted education.
  • Assisting the team with a variety of tasks that make up the day-to-day operations and administration of the project, particularly the project surrounding the “Fatal Four”.
  • Setting up the devices at a variety of locations across the county every week.
  • Quality checking and processing the data the devices collect to generate warning letters that are sent out to speeding drivers.
  • Communicating with a diverse range of people such as parish/county councillors, police and members of the public, answering questions, scheduling deployment of the devices and sharing data reports.
  • Coming up with creative solutions to innovate and improve the ANPR project’s efficiency.

You will need

  • A commitment to making Suffolk’s roads safer for everyone and reducing speeding issues within our communities.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage your own workload and complete tasks within specific deadlines.
  • Attention to detail, along with effective IT user skills (particularly Microsoft Office).
  • A good foundational knowledge of road safety fundamentals (particularly the “Fatal Four”) is beneficial.
  • An excellent eye for detail, the ability to work under your own initiative, multi-task and prioritise a busy workload.

The Suffolk Roadsafe partnership is made up of both Suffolk County Council and Suffolk Constabulary. The partnership strives to reduce and prevent road deaths in Suffolk, focusing on the “Fatal Four”: speeding, not wearing a seatbelt, drink/drug driving and distracted driving e.g. using a mobile phone.

This role focuses on dealing with the issue of speeding by detecting and educating drivers about the impact speeding has on the community, as well as their responsibilities behind the wheel. The ANPR project is the first of its kind in the UK and is on the cutting edge of innovation when it comes to speed prevention and behavioural change.

We deliver a service that tangibly improves the lives of communities across Suffolk and contributes to reducing road deaths. The work we do is evidence based and incorporates behavioural change practices that have been proven effective at promoting road safety.

We are looking to expand our reach across the county by increasing the frequency of our visits and the number of letters we can send to speeding drivers each year and with your help, we can do this.
