Bungay High School is seeking to appoint a full time and/or part time, dynamic and diligent non-teaching Behaviour Managers and Pastoral Support to work under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher – Behaviour and Rewards. The role is primarily to maintain positive student conduct, manage challenging behaviour and support pupils' social-emotional needs.

This role involves:

  • Running a behaviour room
  • Implementing interventions
  • Liaising with parents
  • Working with the Pastoral team and Senior Leadership team to create a calm, inclusive learning environment for our students

The role provides a complimentary service to the school, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers (including challenging behaviour, anxiety and low self-esteem) to learning to achieve their full potential. This is a crucial role and falls within the Pastoral Team.

The primary focus will be to ensure students are able to access and attend lessons, offering immediate intervention for incidents and supporting reintegration into lessons, with support and strategies employed to encourage this. Developing strong connections with students, parents, staff and external agencies are key for this role.

Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, the postholder will work with a range of pupils, but will give priority to those who need the most help. Candidates should ideally have previous pastoral or behaviour experience or have worked in a similar role in a school environment. They must also possess strong ICT skills allowing them to use multiple platforms, have excellent time management, organisation and communication skills, and be used to working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must also be able to work on their own initiative.

If you are interested in applying for this position, please do so via the My New Term website. Please address your letter of application to Mrs Chanel Oswick, Headteacher.

Closing date: 12pm, 29 January 2026

Interview date: week beginning 2 February 2026.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and we expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this post.

Our values, which underpin every decision we take and the systems we use, are demonstrated in The Bungay Way, underpinned by our character virtues of RESPECT, RESILIENCE, REFLECTIVENESS and RESPONSIBILITY. We have a comprehensive student character-building programme, through which we are working towards the nationally recognised Character Quality Mark.
