Overview

All my personal care- toileting, changing my pad after passing water and bowel movements. Providing me with food that I am allowed throughout the day. Making me drinks (squash). Keeping me safe at home. Checking on me during the day. Adhere to reporting any issues, concerns to 'J's' parents.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care support, including toileting and changing pads as required.
  • Prepare and offer meals and beverages appropriate for the individual.
  • Ensure the individual is safe at home and monitor throughout the day.
  • Check in regularly and report any issues or concerns to the child’s parents.

Requirements

  • No specific qualifications necessary; ability to work independently and directly support an autistic teen is essential.
  • Reliability, patience, flexibility, strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work independently are important traits.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in a special needs role (support/care/schooling).
  • Experience with autistic children is preferred.

Hours, Pay and Leave

  • Hours, days and times of work: Usually on a Saturday or Sunday for an 8-hour period. Occasionally covering during the week.
  • Pay rate: £12.21 per hour.
  • Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
  • Expenses: Reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
  • Sick pay: No private sick pay scheme; eligibility for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if criteria are met.
  • Pension: No private pension scheme; statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme will be fulfilled.

  • Background check: A satisfactory Enhanced with Barred List(s) Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this position.
  • References: If successful, provide details of two referees, one of which must be your current or most recent employer, or character references if not employed.

Trial Period

This post is subject to a probationary period of 6 months.
