Overview
All my personal care- toileting, changing my pad after passing water and bowel movements. Providing me with food that I am allowed throughout the day. Making me drinks (squash). Keeping me safe at home. Checking on me during the day. Adhere to reporting any issues, concerns to 'J's' parents.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care support, including toileting and changing pads as required.
- Prepare and offer meals and beverages appropriate for the individual.
- Ensure the individual is safe at home and monitor throughout the day.
- Check in regularly and report any issues or concerns to the child’s parents.
Requirements
- No specific qualifications necessary; ability to work independently and directly support an autistic teen is essential.
- Reliability, patience, flexibility, strong communication, empathy, and the ability to work independently are important traits.
Desirable Criteria
- Previous experience in a special needs role (support/care/schooling).
- Experience with autistic children is preferred.
Hours, Pay and Leave
- Hours, days and times of work: Usually on a Saturday or Sunday for an 8-hour period. Occasionally covering during the week.
- Pay rate: £12.21 per hour.
- Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).
- Expenses: Reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.
- Sick pay: No private sick pay scheme; eligibility for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) if criteria are met.
- Pension: No private pension scheme; statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme will be fulfilled.
