Carer required in Holbrook, Ipswich. 35 hours available per week. Potential for hours to be split between more than one candidate. Please state your availability on your application. £16.00 per hour.

Job purpose: To ensure our twins get the most out of life and can enjoy simple experiences, both at home and out and about.

About me: The twins are both very happy, delightful children who love to laugh and love the outdoors. You will be working with mum and dad to provide care for our 7‑year‑old disabled twins. Our house is perfectly adapted to support our children. We have ample space for wheelchairs, appropriate bathing equipment and a track and hoist system. We have a wheelchair‑accessible vehicle, which, hopefully you will be comfortable to drive.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Getting the twins dressed/ready for school
  • Bathtime
  • Feeding
  • Personal care
  • Playing and interacting with them
  • Taking them out and about
  • Help to keep important items stocked – (formula, Gastro Kit and a small number of medications)
  • Keeping their clothes and toys in order

Employees will be responsible to mum and dad. We would expect a high standard of safety and care and adherence to the usual privacy regulations surrounding children. We have no specific health and safety or mobile phone policy in place as we would rather you adhere to common sense working practices.

Personal Specification:

We believe that attitude and approach is more important than formal qualifications. Training will be provided – namely for one of the twins who is Gastro‑Fed – although this is a very simple process.

Summary terms and conditions:

Hours, days and times of work: Monday-Friday: 7am‑9am and 3.30pm‑7.30pm. Saturdays and Sundays: 4‑5 hours – these can be flexible and sometimes not necessary at all. These times are for a typical school week – During school holidays, there will be more hours available and can be more flexible – i.e. not having to start at 7am. There is potential for the hours to be split between more than one candidate – please state your availability on your application.

Pay rate: £16.00 per hour.

Annual leave: The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work normally done during 5.6 weeks (statutory entitlement).

Expenses: You will be reimbursed for prior agreed expenses incurred as part of the role.

Sick pay: I do not operate a private sick pay scheme but provided you meet the eligibility criteria, you may be entitled to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).

Pension: I do not operate a private pension scheme but I will fulfil my statutory obligations via the NEST pension scheme.
