Position Summary
Funding Officer to support the delivery of a high-quality funding service across the Council. Based in Lowestoft or Melton, potentially working across East Suffolk and Ipswich.
The Role
In this varied role you will work collaboratively within the Funding Team to attract and manage funding that supports priority projects and delivers benefits for local communities and businesses.
- Secure and maximise external funding to support economic development, regeneration, community and business initiatives.
- Identify funding opportunities and support the development of high‑quality funding bids.
- Manage and deliver Council‑led grant programmes including Sizewell C, Enabling Communities and Community Partnership budgets.
- Assess applications, undertake due diligence, monitor funded projects and ensure fair allocation and real impact.
- Provide practical funding advice and sign‑posting to external organisations, promote opportunities to internal and external audiences.
About You
You have experience working with external funding, ideally within local government, economic development, regeneration or community‑focused environments, and are capable of supporting or leading funding applications and managing grant programmes.
- Strong understanding of funding bodies and national, regional and local policy frameworks.
- Ability to work with businesses, communities and a wide range of stakeholders, assess proposals and conduct due diligence.
- Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and networking skills, able to build positive relationships and explain opportunities clearly.
- Analytical, detail‑focused, with good numeracy, research and data‑handling skills, and a creative, solution‑focused approach.
- Degree level education or equivalent; motivated, organised, capable of working independently and in a team.
- Commitment to equality, diversity and continuous improvement, confident with data protection, and willing to travel across the district.
