Your role and responsibilities:

  • Responding to planning consultations on behalf of the Local Highway Authority, liaising with a variety of people, internally and externally, to agree design principles for new development.
  • Securing infrastructure improvements to mitigate the impact of development using your skills and experience of highways and planning.
  • Enhancing transport accessibility for all in Suffolk.

You will need:

  • A passion for promoting high standards of sustainable transport in new developments by influencing a wide audience as to the benefits for the people of Suffolk.
  • The ability to work within procedures and guidelines and deliver to set timescales.
  • An understanding of highway design and construction and relevant sections of the Highway Act.
  • To be capable of representing the team at meetings with internal and external organisations to provide expert advice in your area of work, sometimes in challenging circumstances.

The Transport Planning Teams form part of the wider Transport Strategy team, helping to deliver growth across Suffolk. This includes Development Management, ensuring new developments are sustainable in highway terms to support Suffolk's growth ambitions. We secure funding and the delivery of new transport infrastructure and initiatives, including active travel.
