Responsibilities

  • Play a pivotal leadership role in shaping how people experience, enjoy and access Suffolk's green network.
  • Develop and deliver an integrated access development programme that places sustainable transport, health and wellbeing at its heart.
  • Ensure Public Rights of Way (PRoW) and off‑road walking, wheeling and cycling are fully embedded as priorities across the Local Transport Plan and other key strategies.
  • Lead the renewal of the Rights of Way Improvement Plan and drive countywide access improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians.
  • Spearhead the marketing and promotion of Suffolk's access opportunities, including the ongoing development of the Discover Suffolk website.
  • Manage and motivate project staff, source external funding and work collaboratively with partners.
  • Build a national trail partnership to manage and promote the King Charles III England Coast Path.
  • Champion healthy, sustainable travel choices and make a tangible difference to the quality of life for communities across Suffolk.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience covering multi‑partner projects.
  • Ability to secure significant levels of external funding.
  • Sound knowledge of rural affairs or exclusion issues.
  • Ability to develop and evaluate strategic targets.
  • Self‑motivated, capable of managing your own workload effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to improving access to the natural environment and to creative sustainable access solutions.
