West Suffolk College is seeking a Programme Tutor – Electrical who is passionate about using their knowledge and skills to coach and mentor the next generation of Apprentices. This exciting opportunity allows you to become an assessor within the Strategic Growth and Partnerships Apprenticeship Team at West Suffolk College.

We are looking for an individual who is qualified to Level 3 or above in Electrical Installation (such as a Level 3 Electrotechnical qualification or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical) and has at least two years of experience within the sector. You must be a confident communicator, eager to use your skills and knowledge to coach and mentor learners through their apprenticeship journey.

In this role, you will manage an agreed caseload of apprenticeship students, supporting the assessment of their Electrical Installation and Maintenance competencies. Working closely with employers, you will help develop students’ skills, knowledge, and behaviours through one-to-one guidance, ensuring they receive high-quality training and are well‑prepared for their End Point Assessment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a caseload of apprenticeship students
  • Coaching and mentoring learners throughout their apprenticeship journey
  • Supporting the assessment of Electrical Installation and Maintenance competencies
  • Collaborating with employers to develop student skills and behaviours
  • Ensuring students are prepared for their End Point Assessment

Key qualifications:

  • Level 3 or above qualification in Electrical Installation (e.g., Level 3 Electrotechnical or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical)
  • Minimum of two years experience within the electrical sector
  • Strong communication skills and ability to mentor learners
  • Desire to contribute to student success and local workforce development
  • Teaching/tutoring experience is desirable but not essential
