We currently have an opportunity to join our Waste, Recycling and Street Cleansing management team as an Assistant Manager.
Your role
Alongside our existing Assistant Managers, your role will be to lead a team of Refuse Operatives to ensure our Waste, Recycling and Cleansing services are delivered in a professional and effective way, compliant with relevant legislation and best practice and with our customers at the heart of service delivery. You will effectively manage resources and plan service delivery, assisting in resolving any issues and effectively dealing with customer complaints. Working in an innovative way, you will review and evaluate working practices and productivity, making proposals for continuous improvement within the department. People management will be a key part of this role, as you will manage recruitment, inductions, training, 1:1's, performance management and sickness absence across the team.
What you will need
You will ideally have previous experience working within the industry, an understanding of relevant health and safety and legal requirements, and experience in resource allocation and management. Excellent communication skills will be essential, in addition to the ability to lead, support, motivate and manage the workforce. The ability to work under pressure, problem solve and a high attention to detail will be key.
