As part of our Facilities Management team, you'll play an important role in helping to maintain safe, clean and welcoming play areas for local communities to enjoy. This is an important role with an opportunity to make a visible difference every day by helping to keep children's play areas clean, safe and in excellent condition.

Your role:

  • We are looking for two reliable, hardworking and motivated individuals to join our Facilities Management team as Play Area Cleaning/Maintenance Operatives.
  • Working across a portfolio of play areas owned by East Suffolk Council and local Town and Parish Councils, you'll primarily work as part of a team carrying out cleaning and basic maintenance of play equipment and play areas.

What you'll be doing:

  • Keep play areas clean, safe and well maintained through routine cleaning and general upkeep.
  • Carry out basic maintenance tasks and minor repairs to play equipment and site facilities.
  • Undertake some minor grounds maintenance activities such as raking/grass cutting, litter picking and site tidying.
  • Assist with play area inspections and support repair and improvement projects.
  • Use a smartphone or tablet to record work completed and report any issues.
  • Work safely and professionally while maintaining tools, equipment and vehicles.

What you'll need:

  • Enjoys practical, hands-on work and is confident carrying out basic maintenance tasks.
  • Is reliable, proactive and willing to turn their hand to a variety of jobs.
  • Can work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Is comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Has a good understanding of health and safety and can use digital devices for recording work.
  • Holds a full UK driving licence.

Experience in cleaning, caretaking, grounds maintenance, facilities or a similar practical role would be beneficial, but formal maintenance experience is not essential. We're keen to hear from people who are practical, willing to learn and take pride in keeping community spaces clean, safe and well maintained.
