Salary: £40,777 per annum (pro rata for part‑time). Hours: 37 hours per week, flexible working options available. Contract: Fixed term or secondment for 18 months (funding).

As an SQL/Power BI Developer within the Public Health and Communities and Public Safety directorate, you will transform complex data into powerful insight that improves services and outcomes for children and families across Suffolk. You'll design and deliver a high‑quality Power BI reporting suite that enables the Children's Community Health Service to understand demand, capacity and outcomes, supporting decision‑making at both strategic and operational levels.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, views and tables to support reporting and analytics.
  • Build intuitive, high‑performing Power BI dashboards for a wide range of users.
  • Work closely with service leads to translate business needs into clear reporting solutions.
  • Validate and quality‑check data, identifying issues and driving improvements.
  • Support routine and ad‑hoc data requests across the service.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data governance standards.
  • Document data models, definitions and processes to ensure sustainability.
  • Collaborate with partners across health and care to support joined‑up reporting.
Qualifications
  • Strong experience in a BI/data/analytical role using SQL and Power BI.
  • Experience building dashboards, data models and writing efficient SQL queries.
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets and translate data into clear insight.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements‑gathering skills.
  • Knowledge of data governance, GDPR and handling sensitive information.
  • Experience within the public sector or with SystmOne and/or children’s health data is beneficial.
