Suffolk County Council is reimagining what local government can achieve. As a Senior Project Manager for Devolution, your work will be at the core of local government transformation, offering exciting and rewarding opportunities. This is a fixed term role supporting the creation of a new mayoral strategic authority for Norfolk and Suffolk. You’ll help shape Suffolk’s future through innovation, collaboration, and community impact.
Your role and responsibilities include:
- Delivering important and challenging transformation relating to devolving powers from central Government to the region and setting up a mayoral county combined authority.
- Leading high-profile projects within the devolution programme.
- Working with the Head of Programmes, the Norfolk and Suffolk Devolution Programme Management Office (PMO) and service specialists to deliver effective change management.
- Applying substantial experience in project management by supporting service areas towards the delivery of project benefits, managing performance data, producing project and council reports and coordinating timescales and activities.
- Managing stakeholder relationships with a range of service areas, staff, the general public, councillors and other stakeholders.
You will need:
- A passion for making a positive difference for Suffolk.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An enthusiastic and adaptable approach to managing and implementing change.
- Significant experience in project management, ideally with a recognised project management qualification.
The team consists of project and programme specialists responsible for overseeing, delivering and supporting projects and programmes across the Growth, Highways and Infrastructure (GHI) directorate. You will work in a matrix management environment, being based in the GHI PMO but having strong reporting lines to the relevant service areas, as well as to the Norfolk and Suffolk Devolution PMO.
