The Maintenance and Contracts Service spends approximately £25 million annually repairing, maintaining and improving a retained housing stock of about 7,800 properties and 15 sheltered schemes. It is a holistic, end‑to‑end service responsible for asset management from design to completion, using directly employed trade teams. The Building Surveying Service is a flagship service, vital for tenants and in the public eye. It offers an environmentally friendly depot facility and a range of work that enables participants to refine existing skills and develop new ones.
Responsibilities
- Act as one of the Building Surveying Managers, accountable for delivery of various work streams and for managing a team of surveyors.
- Perform senior Building Surveyor work.
- Ensure all performance and service targets are met within the Building Surveying Service and develop staff to their full potential.
- Ensure all activity is completed to the required standards.
- Surveying tasks include housing defects, damp and mould management, party wall agreements, tenant improvements, disrepair claims, boundary wall disputes, energy performance certificates, planned surveys, design and specification work, project management, feasibility studies, stock condition assessment, and managing an adaptations service.
- Demonstrate leadership and a passion for providing the best possible service to tenants.
Qualifications
- Degree qualification and/or membership of a relevant professional organisation.
- Qualitative experience.
- Detailed knowledge of Building Surveying and Building Regulations.
