This Facilities Officer role will involve you being the eyes and ears of the Hadleigh Town Council at the Layham Road Sports Ground, the play areas and the Cemetery. You will visit these areas on a daily basis ensuring they are clean, tidy and well-kept as well as dealing with any issues. You will also ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and carry out regular testing of alarms and systems. The working hours per week will usually be 3 hours per day in the mornings plus occasional evening and weekend work when the pavilion is in use or events are taking place.
Responsibilities
- Day-to-day management of the Layham Road Sports Ground and pavilion, including daily checks on the land and building, weekly fire alarm checks, and monthly emergency lighting checks.
- Day-to-day management of the Play Areas and Cemetery, including daily and weekly checks, litter picking, weeding and sweeping.
- Keeping the High Street and surrounding areas in a clean and tidy state, including weeding, litter picking and sweeping.
Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate to and communicate with councillors, staff and the public.
- Experience of using tools and equipment to carry out gardening/grounds maintenance work.
- Practical experience of working in a customer-facing role.
- Ability to use Outlook and other IT programmes.
- Motivation to care about the look and feel of the Town – this position is available due to the retirement of the current post holder.
