Job Overview

Senior Educational Psychologist – Hampshire County Council (Hybrid, Countywide)

Salary: £61,721 – £66,156 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time); 37 hours per week; permanent contract.

Posts available:

  • Post 1 – West Suffolk House, Bury St Edmunds (Locality Lead)
  • Post 2 – Endeavour House, Ipswich; West Suffolk House, Bury St Edmunds; or Riverside Lowestoft (Operational Lead)

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and strategically progress the transition towards an integrated community model.
  • Support and develop teams through supervision, service development and systemic practice.
  • Strengthen and champion a specific area of professional expertise.
  • Manage innovative projects that promote inclusion and improve outcomes for children and families.
  • Develop, deliver and manage commissioned and traded work.
  • Enhance and embed robust quality‑assurance processes.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Professionally qualified, registered with the HCPC as an Educational Psychologist.
  • Experience leading, supervising or mentoring educational psychologists or similar professionals.
  • Strong grounding in psychological practice with confidence to apply psychology creatively at community and system levels.
  • Innovative, system‑oriented thinking to shape and develop the community psychology approach.
  • Collaborative experience with education settings and partners to co‑produce inclusive, sustainable solutions.
  • Commitment to learning and development; transferable leadership or system‑change experience valued.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills to balance people leadership, service development and operational demands.
  • Additional: For Post 2 – strategic mindset with experience in service-wide improvement, inclusion or SEND work; support workforce development and quality‑assurance; manage multiple workstreams; data and systems improvement; flexibility to evolve with national developments.
