This Facilities Officer role will involve you being the eyes and ears of the Hadleigh Town Council at the Layham Road Sports Ground, the play areas and the Cemetery. You will visit these areas on a daily basis ensuring they are clean, tidy and well-kept as well as dealing with any issues. You will also ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations and carry out regular testing of alarms and systems.

The working hours per week will usually be 3 hours per day in the mornings plus occasional evening/weekend working when the pavilion is in use or events are taking place.

Your responsibilities:

  • The day-to-day management of the Layham Road Sports Ground and pavilion (daily checks on land and building, weekly fire alarm checks, monthly emergency lighting checks);
  • Management of the Play Areas and Cemetery (daily/weekly checks, litter picking, weeding and sweeping);
  • Keeping the High Street and other surrounding areas clean and tidy, including weeding, litter picking, sweeping.

You will need:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to relate to councillors, staff and public.
  • Experience using tools and equipment for gardening/grounds maintenance work.
  • Practical experience working in a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to use Outlook and other IT programmes.
