This role is within the social emotional mental health (SEMH) school of Sir Peter Hall School, part of the Unity Schools Partnership multi-academy trust. You will join our specialist team as a Learning Support Mentor, shaping the lives of young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Provide support to pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs, working alongside experienced practitioners.
- Support positive outcomes through therapeutic approaches, behaviour support, safeguarding, and relationship-based practice.
- Assist in the implementation of Education Health and Care Plans for each pupil.
- Participate in staff training, development and quality assurance activities.
- Collaborate with SEND directors and the leadership team to promote inclusive and holistic education.
We are looking for someone who is patient, resilient, reflective, emotionally intelligent and able to build trusting relationships with pupils who may have had challenging experiences of education. You should be calm under pressure and willing to learn. A passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs and a desire to help them achieve their best potential is essential. Previous teaching or SEN experience is not required; training will be provided.
We offer comprehensive training, ongoing mentoring and access to recognised qualifications in SEMH and SEN practice. There are professional development opportunities such as apprenticeships and Level 5 and Level 6 qualifications. You will benefit from a supportive leadership team and strong SEND directors within the Unity Schools Partnership. Flexible working options, including part-time or job-share availability, are possible.
