Overview
Mechanical Maintenance Technician/Engineer – Energy Recovery role based in Avonmouth. Contract type: Permanent. Working pattern: Full time. Hours per week: 37.5. Location: Avonmouth. Closing date: 29/09/2025.
Salary: £32,281 – £37,879. Total package at joining up to £44,166 (including Call-Out Allowance approx. £2,500 and up to £3,787 in bonus).
What you will do
Provide planned and reactive maintenance for all mechanical areas of the plant. Responsibilities include fitting and fabrication, welding, cutting and burning; complex overhauls of machinery and inspections of key equipment including gearboxes, cranes, conveying and hydraulic systems. You will be a valued member of the team, supporting colleagues across different functions. The role forms part of a 24-hour call-out rota, covering plant breakdowns outside normal working hours.
Qualifications
- Engineering Apprenticeship (or equivalent experience) and previous maintenance engineering experience in a process plant, engineering or heavy engineering environment.
- Steam raising or boiler experience would be highly beneficial.
- Qualified to at least City & Guilds/NVQ level 3, with a Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH).
- Ability to use Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems and welding experience.
