About The Role
Location: Punchbowl HWRC & Transfer Station, South Coombe, Crediton, EX17 5BP
Salary: £13.21 per hour (with WAMITAB qualification)
Qualifications
- CIWM (WAMITAB) qualification desirable – training provided if required
- JCB 5CX and Telehandler licence desirable – plant training available
Hours
- 40 hours per week in Summer
- 36.5 hours per week in Winter
Shift Pattern: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday
Rest Days: Thursday & Friday
Additional: Monthly bonus available, full PPE provided, SUEZ company benefits
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the site, supporting both the HWRC and Transfer Station. Your leadership will help ensure excellent service delivery, strong teamwork and a safe working environment. You’ll support site supervisors with the day-to-day management of the team, helping to maximise production time and achieve daily targets across the facility.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Maintaining shift logs and providing daily performance feedback to teams
- Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and sharing safety alerts
- Supporting supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and corrective actions
- Inductions, briefings and ongoing training for employees
- Carrying out waste acceptance checks and managing rejections in line with customer contracts
- Ensuring recyclable materials are segregated effectively
- Overseeing housekeeping activities and ensuring safe working practices
- Promoting a strong health and safety culture across the site
- Ensuring equipment is used safely, reporting defects and maintaining high housekeeping standards
- Conducting 5S audits and SIM observations to support a safe, lean working environment
What We’re Looking For
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is motivated, collaborative and keen to develop their leadership skills. It’s particularly suited to individuals looking to gain experience in a first-line management role.
You’ll Need
- Strong self-motivation and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A flexible approach to work, including the ability to provide cover and work overtime when required
- Either an existing IOSH Managing Safely qualification or the willingness to achieve it
- Mobile plant licences and confidence using computer systems
