This role supports a flexible hybrid model and will allow some home working to be combined with office attendance. The head office is located in Maidenhead but you may also be based at one of several regional offices. Regular travel within the UK is expected.
About the Role
What will you do?
- Ensure the areas of the business you are responsible for receive appropriate legal advice and support to meet their operational needs.
- Provide general commercial/legal advice.
- Prepare, review and support the negotiation of a range of commercial contracts and projects, including PFI/PPP, local authority and commercial customer and supplier agreements.
- Identify and assess legal and commercial risks.
- Support tenders, acquisitions and business development activities.
- Advise and support on disputes and manage any litigation.
- Manage a small team of lawyers.
- Help to ensure compliance with applicable laws and Group policies.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments impacting the sector.
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience.
- Strong background in commercial law; experience in PPP/PFI, environmental, regulatory or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
- Ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Strong leadership capability, with experience managing and mentoring others.
- Pragmatic, proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
