Sue Ryder now has an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Support and Development Officer who will work with the Retail Volunteer Team to provide and develop a high quality, efficient volunteer support service to our shops and volunteers.
Key responsibilities will include:
• Support and develop corporate volunteering, including ensuring that enquiries are dealt with quickly and efficiently, liaising with retail volunteer team and shop teams to place volunteers, and supporting the development of resources and providing the necessary admin support.
• Provide administrative and practical support to the internal ‘Connected Colleagues’ initiative.
• Provide a transparent, independent and empathetic service on the Volunteer helpline and support with the handling of volunteering enquiries
• Assist with Volunteer Case Logs on our internal logging system, ensuring accurate and timely entries
• Assist in the production of letters to Volunteers (both written and via email)
• Work closely with the Volunteer Team to shape, implement and coordinate delivery of volunteering initiatives at a national and regional level.

Key Skills:
• Experience and an interest in volunteering or being a volunteer or working with volunteers and an understanding of the needs of volunteers ideally in a retail environment
• Experience in supporting the design, development and roll out of volunteer initiatives and able to demonstrate a commitment to improving the experience of volunteers and the staff who work with them.
• Ability to tailor communication method and style to suit audience, and challenge views calmly, constructively and tactfully.
• Knowledge of good practice in volunteer management and an understanding of how to make volunteering accessible and inclusive.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills. The ability to engage with a wide range of people face to face, by email, phone and via online meetings
• Experience of working with a team that are based in numerous locations across the country.
• IT Literacy. Must be confident and competent emailing, processing short reports in MS Excel and producing letters
