Sue Ryder is one of the largest charity retailers in the UK with over 400 shops. Every item sold funds our services, providing 2.7 million hours of support annually in hospices, homes, and communities. We aim to ensure everyone approaching end of life or living with grief can access necessary support.
Our shops are diverse, including boutiques, vintage, retro, and large format stores. As a retail team member, you\’ll help inspire communities to support more care through innovation and collaboration, while driving income to sustain our services.
We value our staff highly and strive to make you feel valued and included. Most retail roles work every weekend, but managers typically work only 1 in 2 weekends. Most shops close by 5:15 pm, and we have Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day off.
Our Pemberton shop is centrally located with a large selection of stock, constantly refreshed with new items daily.
About You
Are you an experienced, proactive shop manager with retail skills? If so, join our Pemberton team and contribute to Sue Ryder\’s vital work!
You should have the commercial awareness to meet sales targets, plan and prioritize effectively, and demonstrate proven leadership skills, especially in managing volunteers. A positive attitude, strong customer engagement skills, and good financial and IT administration knowledge are essential.
Responsibilities include:
- Driving sales and achieving targets through retail experience and skills
- Leading your team to deliver excellent customer service
- Engaging with the community to generate donated stock
- Recruiting, training, and retaining volunteers
- Maintaining high standards of merchandising and safety
- Managing stock processes and ensuring shop presentation
- Acting as a brand ambassador and supporting campaigns
- Managing stock through the EPOS system
