Main duties of the job
This role will be based in our Day Therapy Service. Day Therapy Services is an outpatient, nurse led service that provides support, information and organised sessions to patients and their families.
About us
Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice is in Oxenhope, near Keighley. As well as expert palliative care, we support people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. We work across Airedale, Wharfedale, Craven, and north Bradford. We support people aged 18 and over who are living with life-limiting conditions such as cancer, heart failure and lung disease by combining specialist medical care for managing pain and other symptoms with other emotional, practical and spiritual support. We are able to provide care in our inpatient unit, Day Therapy services and our CNS team are on hand to visit people and provide care for people in their own home.

Job responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to provide support and facilitation for our sessions. These sessions include Tai Chi, Breathing Exercises, Seated Yoga etc. Excellent communication skills and confidence to lead sessions of 8-10 people is essential for this role. Our Day Therapy Service is currently open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday however we hope to expand this to include Thursday and Friday as well so availability between Monday and Friday is essential.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Help to co-ordinate and manage referrals.
- Help to co-ordinate volunteers.
- Assist with the setting up of new programmes and sessions.
- Confidence in making, taking telephone calls and relaying messages.
- Monitoring the physical and emotional well-being of all clients.
- Ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
- Promoting choice in the delivery of care and support.
- Enabling concerns and complaints to be raised freely by the individual and their family.
- To have a welcoming approach to patients and visitors and assist in ensuring that the environment is safe and comfortable.
- Keep the area clean and tidy and set up areas for group sessions.
Person Specification
Qualifications: An NVQ and/or QCF Level 2 qualification is highly desirable.
Experience: Experience delivering care with respect for patient dignity. Ability to follow care plans and make reasonable adjustments. Effective verbal and written communication with individuals of varying needs. Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and inclusion. Experience in hospice or palliative care settings.
